چکیده

Checkland's Soft Systems Methodology for defining and solving problems in organizations is presented on the basis of an application of the methodology. In many ways this approach represents an improvement in relation to more traditional approaches to computer-based information systems. Based on an experiment we explore the possibilities of combining the practical usefulness of soft systems thinking with the analytical power offered by dialectical thinking. Soft Systems Methodology already shares several basic elements with dialectical approaches to social theory and action. It does not, however, include the key element of dialectical analysis: explicit thinking in terms of contradictions. The paper presents experiences, ideas and arguments, but it contains no final answers. At this stage it is our intention to engage others in critical and constructive reflection on further developments of Soft Systems Methodology and on dialectical approaches to computer-based information systems in organizations.

Scheduling with Soft CLP(FD) Solver*

Timetabling problems often consists from various requirements which can not be satisfied together [11]. Unsatisfiable requirements can be handled within optimization criteria as soft constraints. Such soft constraints may not be satisfied if there are some contradictions. The remaining hard constraints must be still satisfied. The set of hard and soft constraints can be naturally expressed usin...

A Study of Soft and Hard Breakdown—Part I: Analysis of Statistical Percolation Conductance

A theory of the statistical origin of soft and hard breakdown, that can explain a wide range of experimental data, is proposed. The theory is based on the simple premise that the severity of breakdown depends on the magnitude of the power dissipation through the sample-specific, statistically distributed percolation conductance, rather than on any physical difference between the traps involved....

OBSERVATION OF THE HARD DISRUPTION INSTABILITY IN THE IR-TI (IRAN-TOKAMAK 1)

In this article, some diagnostic systems and the preliminary results of the IR-T1** (Iran-Tokamak 1) are presented. Different diagnostic methods, including an array of soft X-ray detectors, visible spectrometer, electron cyclotron emission detector and electromagnetic measurement systems have been used and the hard disruptive instability occurring in the IR-T1 plasma during an ohmic heating...

An Efficient High-Step-Up Soft-Switching Boost Converter for Photovoltaic Application

In this paper an efficient high step-up converter with a coupled- inductor with soft- switching operation is presented. The proposed topology includes a coupled-inductor boost converter for raising the voltage gain. Moreover, a simple auxiliary resonant circuit composed of an auxiliary switch, a clamping diode and a resonant tank (inductor, capacitor), is adopted in this paper. The coupled-indu...

Colour Emotion Models, CIELAB Colour Coordinates, and Iranian Emotional Responses

Ten colour emotional scales, namely, "Warm Cool", "Active-Passive", "Like-Dislike", "Clean-Dirty", "Fresh-Stale", "Modern-Classical", "Heavy-Light", "Hard- Soft", "Tense-Relaxed", and "Masculine-Feminine"are investigated for single-colour stimuli in CIELAB colour space within a psychophysical experiment by forty observers. The relationships between Iranian colour emotional responses and CIELAB ...
